"TRIPLE HELIX"

Co-written with his sister, Stephanie - a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Columbia, and her husband, Michael - an actor/ screenwriter, the trio has just completed the suspense/thriller "Triple Helix."

As far "High Concept" stories go, you won't find a more timely one than this, given the current state of our world.

Log Line:

A pretty, twenty-four year old, med. student at Georgetown University accidentally discovers she has a gene lying dormant in her DNA that’s about to turn her into a living weapon of mass destruction as part of a terrorist plot.

Synopsis:

Ali Rashad is a happy-go-lucky, 24 year old, grad student of Middle-Eastern descent, at Georgetown Medical School, in the year, 2021. She has a great boyfriend, great parents, and is well on her way to becoming a doctor.

When her biology class is given an assignment to sequence a portion of their own DNA, Ali accidentally discovers an anomaly; a Triple Helix genome.

Ali soon learns that, in less than a week, on her twenty-fifth birthday, this gene which has been lying dormant, will activate; turning her into the carrier of a retrovirus one hundred times deadlier and more contagious than HIV.  She will become a "living weapon of mass destruction" -responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent Americans.

Ali finds out she is one of five subjects, conceived in Tehran in the mid-nineties through in vitro fertilization as part of a terrorist plot, and she was sent to the U.S. to be raised as a normal American girl until her day of destiny.

Over the last ten years, the U.S. government has found and terminated four of the five 'children of mass destruction' but has lost track of the fifth... until Ali inadvertently leads them right to her.

With the help of her professor, Dr. Colin Fry, and with the government hot on their tail, Ali and Colin have only days to try and re-engineer her genetic sequence before the helix activates, or she must take her own life...that is, if the government doesn't take it for her.
